We are proud recipients of awards that demonstrate our commitment to inclusivity and support for students from a range of backgrounds to achieve their potential. Our students receive teaching quality and achieve graduate outcomes equivalent to the top universities in the country; our TEF Gold rating places us in the top 26% of UK universities for teaching excellence, and we have consistently high standards of student satisfaction and employability rates.
“The MA in Education with TESOL course is wonderful. Although I’ve been a language teacher for the past five years it has taught me skills and techniques I never even knew existed until now….when I saw the course modules and read about the teaching background of BGU, I knew I belonged here.” Moses. MA Education with TESOL
Participants of New Directions East Asia 2020 with an interest in language assessment will find all our carefully-designed modules allow students to investigate different types of assessment in a variety of contexts (EFL/ ESP/ EAP/ EAL). The TESOL module addresses issues such as language proficiency and skills competency and how these can be determined with the implementation of tests and official assessments. Our Global English module provides the opportunity to explore the implications of these for speakers of non-Western standard varieties of English, and testing and assessment can be investigated from a policy-level perspective in our Public Policy and Professional Practice module. Students are supported to conduct research on their interests for the dissertation, and many past students have explored the reliability and validity of in-house tests in Primary and Secondary education in the UK and other countries.
We offer additional support and training for academic and technical professional skills to all our students with CELT and career support from BGFutures. As an education specialist, BGU is also home to related courses including the BA in TESOL and Linguistics and a discounted professional TEFL qualification (Trinity) for BGU alumni, PGCE training, and progression to Ph.D.
