Phonemic awareness
Children who take the Reading Booster course will already have a basic grasp of phonics, but need extra support in progressing to reading fluency. Our friendly and dedicated teachers will focus on blending phonics – the building blocks of early literacy.

Sight words and spelling patterns
Your child will become more familiar with sight words (that is, words that don’t follow phonemic rules) and spelling rules, patterns, and generalisations. In a step up from pencil grip and letter formation activities, they will practise writing their own sentences to develop their language ability.
Comprehension
We understand that genuine learning only happens when students can grasp the meaning of the passages they are reading, therefore comprehension tasks play a key role in developing reading skills. We aim to increase vocabulary awareness by encouraging joyful and imaginative engagement with story-related activities.
Reading fluency
By the end of Kindergarten 2, our ultimate aim is to have our learners reading with greater fluency and ease. Through early-literacy strategies, and activities led by students’ natural curiosity, children will become confident readers of simple texts.

About our Reading Booster for Early Years
Led by experienced, caring and compassionate teachers, our Reading Booster focuses on early literacy skills to nurture a love of reading. Available for Early Years (six years old), this enrichment course is designed to give your child the tools they need to meet the new challenges of their first school year.
