Each year Edinburgh welcomes over 30,000 of the world’s leading arts professionals to enrich its famous August festivals season. The Momentum international delegate programme brings together curators, creative entrepreneurs, funders, media professionals, officials, producers and programmers from all over the world to immerse themselves in this unrivalled showcase of global cultural excellence.
Momentum
• The Director of the Institute of Contemporary Art (at LASALLE), Bala Starr, represented Singapore as a delegate at the Momentum Visual Arts programme in late July 2018. The international delegation programme was curated by Festivals Edinburgh, Creative Scotland and BC Scotland Arts.
• Singaporean delegates from the performing arts sector attended Momentum in Edinburgh in Aug 2018. Delegates included senior representatives from the NAC, Esplanade, The Arts House / Singapore International Festival of the Arts.
The Edinburgh International Culture Summit
The Edinburgh International Culture Summit – the first of its kind in the world – is a biennial event held in Edinburgh, Scotland. Five partners, who all strongly believe in the power and benefit of culture and have a global reach and perspective, organise the Summit – British Council, Edinburgh International Festival, Scottish Government, The Scottish Parliament, and the UK Government.
EICS: Singaporean delegates attended the Edinburgh International Cultural Summit in Aug 2018. The delegation was led by Rosa Daniel (CEO NAC and Deputy Secretary Culture MCCY), who spoke at a panel, and included a youth delegate and was accompanied by Sarah Meisch Lionetto. Other Singapore delegates included theatre doyen, Ong Keng Sen, and emerging young artist, Victoria Chen. Alongside the summit, many key meetings were set up to strengthen UK-SG cultural exchange.
