The British Council was the programme supporter of the Singapore Repertory Theatre's Inclusive Young Company. We supported the programme by hosting the training sessions at the British Council in Napier Road. This initiative was part of the British Council's holistic approach to EDI that supports commitment to our core values through concrete activity.
iYC is a holistic acting programme for young persons and adults between the ages of 16 – 35, who identify as persons with disabilities. Sharing its goals with SRT’s acclaimed The Young Company (TYC) acting programme, it aimed to equip and nurture participants with the confidence, transferable employment skills, and communication techniques that will be needed to shine onstage, as well as in the career of choice of the participants. It featured professional masterclasses and mentorship – led by international artist Grace Lee-Khoo – which provided a platform for the development of the creative potential as an independent performer and theatre-maker.
