Helen Basturkmen works at the University of Auckland, where she convenes courses on Discourse Analysis and English for Specific Purposes on the MTESOL programme. She has written books on ESP - Ideas and Options in English for Specific Purposes (Routledge, 2006), Developing Courses in English for Specific Purposes (Palgrave Macmillan, 2010), Linguistic Description in EAP (Routledge, in production), and she edited the multi-volume work English for Academic Purposes, in the Critical Concepts in Linguistics series (Routledge, 2015.) Her articles have appeared in a range of international journals, including Language Learning, Language Teaching, Language Awareness, Applied Linguistics, TESOL Quarterly, Modern Language Journal, English for Specific Purposes and Journal of English for Academic Purposes. Present research projects centre on the topics of attention to language in disciplinary teaching in English medium instruction, EAP/ESP teacher education and oral corrective feedback.
